WSZiB commemorated its Founder as a part of University’s 30th anniversary
29 May '25

As part of the celebration of the 30th anniversary, Wyższa Szkoła Zarządzania i Bankowości w Krakowie organized an event dedicated to the memory of the late Włodzimierz Roszczynialski – the founder and long-time Rector of the University. The ceremony took place on May 26, 2025 on a square of Kraków’s Powiśle.

A place of reflection in the heart of Kraków – WSZiB remembers its Founder

As part of the event, the square at the intersection of Powiśle and Zwierzyniecka streets was restored to its former glory. The revitalized space became a place of remembrance, with a bench dedicated to the Professor as its central point. As part of the event, the University planted 616 plants, including lilacs, hydrangeas, roses, and yews – species resistant to urban conditions and friendly to pollinating insects. As a result, the square became a space for reflection and reminiscing about the person who shaped the face of WSZiB for years. The event was attended by members of the Professor’s family, the current authorities of the University, and members of the WSZiB Senate.

“This is a special event for us. We want to celebrate not only the 30th anniversary of the WSZiB, but above all pay tribute to its Creator – a man who inspired with his passion and vision, building this University with extraordinary determination for decades,” said the Rector of the WSZiB, Krzysztof Roszczynialski MSc.

A square full of greenery – a symbolic reference to the Professor’s activity

Professor of technical sciences, dr hab. Eng. Włodzimierz Roszczynialski, specialist in mining and aerology, author of over 150 publications, founder of WSZiB, who served as Rector for almost three decades. Awarded, among others, with the Knight’s Cross of the Order of Polonia Restituta and the Golden Cross of Merit. The greenery project symbolically refers to the life and work of the Professor – well-thought-out, harmonious, and at the same time full of energy and durability.

The new, green space in the heart of Krakow is not only a place of rest, but also a living monument to the memory of the Professor – a man of science, organizer and visionary who for years built bridges connecting theory with practice, education and the real needs of the economy.
